Myth
Pegasus was the offspring of Poseidon and Medusa. The flying horse was tamed by Bellerophon, a Greek hero, with a golden bridle given to him by the goddess Athena. Together, Pegasus and Bellerophon killed the Chimera, a fire-breathing monster. Pegasus helped Bellerophon perform many more great deeds until Bellerophon got a bit of a big head. Bellerophon even thought he deserved to live with the gods. He tried to fly to Mount Olympus but Zeus sent a fly to bite Pegasus so he would throw Bellerophon. Bellerophon fell to the earth, and Pegasus went to live with Zeus in Mount Olympus. Zeus eventually made Pegasus into a constellation so he would be immortal.
